Shelf Care Book Club

self care, one chapter at a time

Read along at your own pace, in whatever format works for you. Every so often I'll share a book, article or other piece of content, and knowing others are reading alongside you can make it easier to start, keep going and actually enjoy it. A gentle kind of body doubling, with no timetable and no pressure.

How it works

Something is chosen

When it feels right, I'll share a new book, article or piece of content by email, with a little about why it was picked.

Read your way

Paper, audiobook, Kindle or online. Whatever works for your brain, your life and your capacity.

Reflect gently

A few optional reflection prompts may arrive along the way. Use them, skip them, finish or don't.

A gentle note

  • This book club is a self-directed reading group open to anyone. It is not therapy, group therapy or a psychological service, and does not create a therapeutic relationship.
  • It is an optional extra for curiosity and personal growth, not a substitute for professional support.
  • Your membership is confidential. Your email address is added to a private mailing list used only for book club emails, other members can't see who has joined, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • Joining, or not joining, has no effect on any individual sessions.
  • Some content may explore difficult themes. Please read at your own pace, and feel free to skip anything that doesn't feel right.
  • Emails and suggestions are not monitored for urgent support.
